It’s hard to imagine, sitting at home in London just what it will really be like on the road, what we’ll experience during those 6 months, and what we need to plan ahead for.

We’ve done a lot of reading travel guides and books and blogs by people who’ve done similar trips, as well as fiction from the continent.
We’ve gathered together long lists of things to do before we leave (visas, insurance, vaccinations) and what we need to bring (tools, documentation, medication) much of which I guess we won’t actually need.
In October 2019 (3 months before we leave) we’re going to do a weekend explorer trip in the Lake District with OneLife Adventures, followed directly by a one week trial trip, travelling through France and Spain to test Lenny and his amazing origami roof tent out. When the previous owner showed us how to unfold the tent he’d bought en route in South Africa, it seemed so easy, up and ready to climb the ladder to bed in 15mins. Let’s see if it’s as easy once we’re out there on our own! When it’s raining and cold in the Lake District.
Lenny has a fridge freezer in his backside, so we can stock up and test how it really is cooking at a wild camping site, with a calor gas heater.

Also in the back, drawers for clothes, tools and documents, passports and visas. Apparently we’ll need at least 30 passport photos to clear border controls.
The drawers can all be safely locked up inside a custom made steel box, so we can feel more comfortable leaving Lenny knowing that our documents are pretty secure.
